The road from Purnululu was long, taking us into the Pilbara region. Famous for summer temperatures that routinely reach 50 degrees C, salt.mines on the coast, and the largest deposits of iron from the banded iron formation in the world.

We resupplied in Broome before continuing on to Port Hedland, where several rail lines meet to deliver millions of tons of iron ore to the Port.

Trains often have 200 or more cars. The coast here touches tropical lagoons and shallow ocean. A good place for the night and resupply.

Our route took the next park was all through iron country. Road trains were everywhere, hauling everything imaginable.

our journey to Karijini led us through desert rich in history and iron ore alike. This is red dirt country.
